The
Pivot Explorer APP file can be downloaded here and
then uploaded to the Add-in/App Catalog of the SharePoint
farm or tenancy where you want to use Pivot Explorer.
It will then be available for all sites in the farm/tenancy.
How to create a SharePoint Online App Catalog
Pivot Explorer can be used in modern team sites (created
from the SharePoint home page) as well as on classic team
sites (created from the SharePoint Admin center).
Installation
The recommended way to test Pivot Explorer is to
create a new site collection for testing. Then, once the
testing is completed, you can start over by installing
Pivot Explorer in the production site collection.
When the Pivot Explorer APP file has been uploaded
to the Add-in/App Catalog, install Pivot Explorer
in a site by adding an app.
Select "Apps You Can Add" and choose 'Pivot Explorer for
SharePoint Lists'. If you want to install from SharePoint
Store, select 'SharePoint Store' instead.
Test with example or custom list
When Pivot Explorer has been installed in a site,
click on the "Pivot Explorer" link in the Site Contents
to open the settings page and create an Example list to
test Pivot Explorer with.
You can also use existing lists for the evaluation. In that
case, open the list and click on the Pivot Explorer
button in the command bar or under the ellipsis (modern
interface) or under the LIST tab (classic interface).
For details about the installation and configuration, refer
to the Manual.
Permissions
Pivot Explorer uses standard SharePoint permissions.
The permission for the add-in itself is set automatically
when the download is trusted.
The person who uploads Pivot Explorer to
the App Catalog needs to be a Farm/Tenant Administrator.
The person who adds Pivot Explorer to a site,
must have Full control over the site collection where
Pivot Explorer is added.
Users who should use all the functionalities of
Pivot Explorer must have Contribute permission.
Users who only need to see the list data in Pivot
Explorer only need Read permission over the site.
???
Languages
Pivot Explorer automatically gets the same language
as the SharePoint site, if it has one of the supported languages:
Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Norwegian,
Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish. When the SharePoint site
has another language, Pivot Explorer will be in English.
The Example list that can be generated for evaluation purposes
is in English, and therefore SharePoint Store does not allow
us to add more supported languages in the description.
Pivot Explorer will however work on all supported
languages even if you install from SharePoint Store.
