Build a Company Guidelines Site

A SharePoint Online tutorial by Peter Kalmström

SharePoint iconMost organizations have documents for company guidelines that should be shared among users. You can of course just upload them to a document library, but in the demo below Peter Kalmström, CEO and Systems Designer of kalmstrom.com Business Solutions, describes a more elegant way: create a subsite for company guidelines and add the content of each document on a separate page. Link to those pages from the Quick Launch.

Peter uses new model pages in his demo, but you can do the same with wiki pages.

Create a Company Guidelines Site

  1. Create a new subsite.
  2. Create a new page and give it the same name as one of the guideline documents.
  3. Add the content of the document to the page.
  4. Repeat step 2 and 3 for all documents.
  5. Remove all links from the Quick Launch and add links to the guideline pages instead.
Also refer to Peter's blog post about using pages instead of documents.
