The New Page Model – News

A SharePoint Online tutorial by Peter Kalmström

SharePoint iconThe SharePoint Online new page model has two web parts for news sharing. In the demo below Peter Kalmström, CEO and Systems Designer of Business Solutions, describes how you can use them.

Both News web parts display a newsfeed where each message is a separate new model page. These web parts have no settings at all, and the only difference between them is that they display the news in different ways:
  • The "News headlines" web part shows the four latest news pages, the latest one as a bigger tile to the left and the three other ones to the right.
  • The "News list" web part shows the news in a list with the latest one on top.
Add one of the News web parts via the plus sign and then Publish the News web part. Now it is ready for use by all users.

News creation process:
  1. Add a new message by clicking on the ‘+ Add’ link or the ‘Add news’ button. A new page of the new model will open.
  2. Write a news heading = the name of the page.
  3. Insert the news message in the form of one of the new model web parts – for example text, images, videos or a combination with multiple web parts.
  4. Publish the page.
