All Templates Manager packages are included in the
subscription, so you can use them as you like. They have
the same version number and features.
SPFX edition
The SPFX edition is very easy to manage and can also be
used in Microsoft Teams, so this is the edtion we recommend
you to use if possible. Unfortunately, it currently only
supports modern experience libraries in SharePoint Online.
Sometimes you hear that Microsoft has deprecated sandboxed
solutions, but that is not true. What has been deprecated
is custom code in sandboxed solutions, but the kalmstrom.com
SharePoint solutions do not contain such code. Instead our
products build on no-code sandboxed solutions, which Microsoft
will continue to support.
The Sandboxed solution supports both the modern and the
classic experience. It can be installed in two ways:
Upload the WSP file to the root site of a site collection
and activate it. Now, Templates Manager will
be available in that root site and all subsites, but
the feature must be activated on each site where it
should be used.
Modify and run the PowerShell script. This is the
quickest method to install and upgrade Templates
Manager in multiple sites, but you should have some
earlier experience of PowerShell to use it.
The Sandboxed solution uses the same folders whether you
use the WSP or PowerShell method to install Templates
Manager, so you can very well upgrade the WSP installations
with the PowerShell script and vice versa.
