Kanban Task Manager SharePoint Editions

Kanban Task Manager for SharePoint logotypeWith the SharePoint editions of Kanban
Task Manager
, the kanban board is available in a SharePoint site. The license is unlimited within the organization, so you can have as many installations as you wish.

Kanban Task Manager uses as much standard SharePoint features as possible, and therefore it is easy to understand and use.

When you open the Kanban Task Manager kanban board in SharePoint, you can reach the workgroup’s different projects and tasks. New projects, phases and lanes can be added with a few simple steps, and new tasks are created with a click.

Kanban Task Manager comes in two SharePoint editions: Sandboxed Solution and Add-in/App.

The demo below shows the previous version of the sandboxed solution. The add-in has the same design and features, except for the move to another board, which is not possible with an add-in.

Kanban board integrated in SharePoint

To have the kanban board in SharePoint gives several advantages:
  • Tasks are synchronized within the workgroup, so everything is up to date and everyone can see what is happening.
  • It is easy to drag and drop tasks within or between different phases and lanes.
  • Tasks for multiple projects can be displayed in one kanban board.
  • Filter tasks by priority, project and responsible and, if enabled, also by a custom field. The filter is kept at refresh and browser restart, so users can bookmark the filtered view and share its URL with other users who have access to the same Kanban Task Manager installation.
Every user can, for example, send a manager the path to a filtered view that shows only that user's tasks. If this is done regularly, it is easy for the manager to track each team member's progress.
  • The captions "Project" and "Lane" can be changed into something that suits the organization better.
  • Search of both subjects and body texts of the tasks.
  • Right click on a task to open a details pane.
  • Checklist for each task. Create templates for common task steps.
  • Set WIP limits for phases and lanes, to give a warning when the predefined number of tasks is exceeded.
  • Set default values.
  • Set number of columns for each phase, for optimal utilization of the screen space.
  • Graphic indicators on the kanban cards: high and low priority, overdue and % completed.
  • Time logging for each task.
  • Support for multiple assignees. Search by any of the assigned persons. A two-headed icon instead of a profile picture/initials on the task cards.
  • Phases, projects and responsibles can be hidden.
  • Organizations with multiple installations can move tasks between kanban boards (only the sandboxed solution).
  • My Tasks gives a simple interface for users who only need to see their own tasks. You can embed My Tasks in any page, and the sandboxed solution can fetch tasks from several kanban boards.
  • Kanban Task Manager has a custom task list, but you may choose to use another SharePoint Tasks list instead.
  • It is easy to manage several teams by going into the different SharePoint-sites and study projects and tasks.
  • More views in addition to the kanban board:
    • Month view
    • Year view
    • Timeline, tasks grouped by Responsible
    • Timeline, tasks grouped by Project
    • Project view with pie charts that show tasks in phases
    • Daily trend view, line chart with task statuses from the last 30 days (currently only the sandboxed solution)
    • Day report view, task activities on a specified day (currently only the sandboxed solution).
    • Not Assigned view

  • Statistics reports are automatically generated to Excel. The data can be studied and shown with all the features of Excel.
