Tag and find documents in SharePoint

Borgholm, Sweden, 14 January 2013

Tag documents and presentations in SharePoint libraries and make them easier to find! Document Tagger for SharePoint, a new application from Business Solutions, is now released in a Beta version.

Avoid tedios work
"A SharePoint site is excellent when it comes to share and store documents, but when the libraries grow big it is often difficult to get an overview of the documents and find the right one among all you have stored", says the Document Tagger architect, Microsoft certified SharePoint specialist Peter Kalmstrom.

"To manually tag documents with keywords is both boring and time consuming, so often people avoid doing it or do it inconsistently", he adds. "Now Document Tagger can analyze your text(s) and suggest keywords and metadata to tag them with."

Simplifies both tagging and finding
Document Tagger does not only suggest keywords for documents and presentations. The solution also makes it easier to use the tags to find relevant and related documents. Each keyword is tied to a category, for easier overview and grouping.

Peter Kalmström has recorded a series of Document Tagger tutorials to show how users can take advantage of the tagged documents to quickly find the document they are looking for or find documents tagged with specific keywords.

Easy to install, configure and use
Document Tagger is a sandboxed SharePoint solution which is uploaded to a SharePoint 2010 solution gallery and activated there and on each site in the collection where it should be used. "These are standard procedures for most SharePoint administrators", says Peter Kalmström.
Third party language processor
The text analysis itself is not made by Business Solutions or Document Tagger but by a third party language processing service. The Beta version of Document Tagger uses the OpenCalais Web Service for the text analysis, but future versions will offer more options. For the Beta release the developers have instead focused very much the on the user interface and on making the usage as streamlined as possible.

Free support
During the evaluation of Document Tagger the team gives full support, just as support and upgrades will be included for organizations that eventually subscribe to the gold version of Document Tagger.

Brand and company
Peter Kalmström and his team develop and market add-ons for Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint and Excel under the brand name Business Solutions. The common theme for the applications is that they add functionality on top of the Microsoft products they build on.

The company behind the brand is the family owned Kalmstrom Enterprises AB, a Swedish business with customers all over the world.
