Uploading files to a SharePoint 2013 document library
A SharePoint tutorial by Peter Kalmstrom
SharePoint
2013 offers several ways to add files to document libraries.
In the demo below Peter Kalmstrom shows both the most common
and the more advanced methods. He also explains the benefits
of the different methods and when to use each one of them.
Peter is the CEO of kalmstrom.com Business Solutions, and
he is also a Microsoft certified SharePoint specialist and
trainer. He has been recording this tutorial with the Office
365 version of SharePoint 2013, but most of what he demonstrates
work in the same way in other versions too.
These are the methods shown in the demo:
Create a document directly in the library
Drag one or more files from the local computer
Upload a single document
Upload files using Windows Explorer
Add files from applications that use the standard
Windows "Save as" dialog by adding the SharePoint library
path to the Favorites
Add files from applications that do not use
the standard Windows "Save as" dialog by mapping a drive
to the SharePoint library
Add files via SharePoint Designer
Peter also shows how to get the files in the document library
into the command prompt, if you want to work with them in
the "old school" DOS way.
Addition:
There is actually one more method, not shown in the demo.
You can email enable the library and send email attachments
directly to the library.
See
here how to do that.
