the demos below Peter Kalmström, CEO and Systems Designer
of kalmstrom.com Business Solutions, describes the new page
model Image and Document web parts.
The new page model is just what it says: new. So when Peter
recorded the demos below, the site option did not work for
neither images nor documents, and the link option in the
Image web part was not there at all. However, when this
article is published all options work as they should.
The new page model Document web part
Office documents can be embedded in new model pages in the
same way as in wiki pages, and this embedding also gives
the same options for download and save as PDF.
Documents can be added to the new page in three ways:
From files recently used on the site
From files stored on the site
From files on the computer
PowerPoint and Word documents only have one settings option:
which slide/page to start on. Excel files give more options,
because here you can decide which part of the file should
The new page model Image web part
Images can be added to the Image web part in the same way
as a document is added to the Document web part, but there
is a fourth option: a link to an image in OneDrive for Business
or SharePoint Online.
There are just two options beside the actual image: An image
caption can be written below the image and an alternative
text can be added.
Since this demo was recorded, Microsoft has added another
web part for images to modern pages: Image Gallery.
