Create from the SharePoint homepage
When you click on the SharePoint tile in the Office 365
app launcher, you will be directed to the SharePoint
Online homepage. From this page, users can create two
modern site collections.
These site collections will be displayed on the
creator's SharePoint homepage, but they do not show up
in the SharePoint Admin center.
- The team site
Use the team site option when you want to collaborate on content. An Office 365 group will be created automatically when you create the team site, and all users added to the site will be members of that group.
- The communication site
Use the communication site option when you want to share content. No Office 365 group will be created, so use the ‘Share site’ icon in the top right corner to invite people to the site.
Create from the SharePoint Admin center
The most feature rich site collections are created in the SharePoint Admin Center. This is what we call the classic site collections, and Peter shows the classic team site in the demo below.
