Revisions

22 September A bug made it difficult for some user to connect to the SharePoint site. This is now fixed.
13 August Buxfix: Sometimes the Outlook redemption library (SafeKalmstrom.dll) might get disabled by Outlook, or get corrupt. In such circumstances, the addin would try to register the library silently and if that failed, it would prompt the user to re-install the application.
Also several refinements/enhancements. Among them are:
1) The Excel grid allows for up to 10000 rows of SharePoint document listings.
2) Various fixes to the code with respect to Outlook Object Model.
2009
18 December Easier to use SP Attach in a system with locked machines.
Earlier the SP Attach add-in (SPAttachments.dll) was registered under HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry hive, which meant that it was only registered for the current user (the one who performed the installation) even if the files were installed for all users on that system.
Now the add-in is registered under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, which means that anyone in the administrator group can install the product for all users of the machine.
18 November In Outlook 2007, some users might see a message about "Microsoft Scripting Engines 5.0 or later is needed for this application to work". This is fixed!
5 August 2008 New registration encoding without the scripting runtime requirement.
Trial extended to 30 days.
6 December New features for version 2 of SP Attach:
  • Attachment URL is now embedded in the cursor position. This means, you can control the positioning of the URL by simply clicking the cursor to you desired location.

  • SP Attach now support multiple attachment files (either through the attach button or drag-drop). All the resulting multiple URLs are embedded at the cursor position with a line feed separating each URL.
  • SP Attach now retains the format type of the email (HTML, RTF or plain text) as well as the format (styles) of contents such as bold, font family etc.
  • SP Attach now installs a second component - the Outlook redemption library safeKalmstrom.dll at the same directory as the SPAttachment.dll. This is a helper library to safely access certain Outlook components without Outlook giving security warnings.

Some bugs have also been fixed:
Earlier when you started SP Attach for the first time after installation and Office Web Component were not installed, it prompted to download the OWC from Microsoft.com. But at the same time, this also lead to a premature trial end.
In the previous version of SP Attach it could happen that an attachment URL partially wiped out the content of the email.

13 August SPAttachments.dll 1.0.0.75 has these improvements:

  • Bug fixes in Outlook 2000 and 2007.

  • Failure to get currently selected item now fixed.

  • Un-handled issues with missing SOAP toolkit now fixed

14 May 2007 After a period of withdrawal from the market an improved version is published. This version supports all the latest Microsoft updates, like IE7, Vista and Office 2007.
3 March 2005 SharePoint Attachments released
3 Feb 2005 I got the SharePoint Attachment idea from Kyle Wilsson of TCSC - The Computer Solution Company during a lunch at the first annual Office Developer Conference in Redmond, WA.
