I typed in what the meeting was about and then put the customer and task in, but then when I saved the appointment instead of the topic of the meeting showing, it has put the customer and task in the topic. Is this a bug?

 No, this is not a bug. Some users find it practical to have the TimeCard properties in the Subject. Therefore we have a checkbox in the Personal Settings dialog for automatically adding these metadata in the Subject.

This is described in section 2.11 in the Single User manual and in section 4.1.4. in the Workgroup manual. Please control if you have checked that box.
