Business Solutions has launched version 11.3 of
Public Folder HelpDesk, the add-on for issue tracking inside Outlook.
The new version is fully compatible with Office 365.
The development of support for cloud platforms continues at kalmstrom.com Business Solutions. PF HelpDesk was recently updated
with Microsoft's cloud-based SQL Azure as a third
database alternative for tickets and settings, and now the kalmstrom.com team
has taken one more step towards the clouds by making this Outlook helpdesk compatible with Office 365 also.
Ever since PF HelpDesk was released more than ten years ago it has been installed in an Outlook folder with a homepage. Since the folder homepage solution does not work with Office 365,
the kalmstrom.com developers had to find ways to make PF HelpDesk work just as well without the folder homepage. Ideally the new version should be better for
all, whether they use Office 365 or not.
The obvious answer was to take advantage of the
Outlook banner for more controls, and the
kalmstrom.com developers actually solved the task so
elegantly
that no one will miss the folder homepage. Version
11.3 of PF HelpDesk has all buttons and controls gathered in the
banner in a clear and simple way that will appeal to
users. And as most changes are made “behind the scene”, old users will still feel at home when they upgrade.
With PF HelpDesk e-mails are converted into tickets manually or automatically with
all formatting and attachments kept. A workgroup can easily cooperate on the tickets inside Outlook, and with a click closed cases are saved as knowledge base articles for future reference.
E-mails about the same case can be added to one single
ticket, and all tickets can be studied in the
integrated reporting tool.
The kalmstrom.com team has already begun planning
for version 12, which will be called
Folder HelpDesk as it actually may be installed in any Outlook folder,
not just a public one. Folder HelpDesk
will be even more adapted to cloud based
technologies, without loosing its place inside
Outlook, where there is a lot of functionality to
build upon.
