I have installed PF HelpDesk and KBase and set the path to KBase under the Other Settings tab, but when I click the "KBase" button in the ticket the data does not show up in KBase.

 You can only save a ticket as a KBase article when the case is finished and the ticket is ready to be closed. Then, click "To KBase" and after that "Close". The ticket is now closed, and in addition to the database the data is also saved in a KBase article in Outlook.
