Migration to new Exchange server: How do we migrate PF Helpdesk from our old Exchange server to a new server?

The steps vary a bit depending on database, but this should be of help anyway. This has to be done only once by the administrator. Note that 2 and 7 is only for PF HelpDesk versions older than 11.3.


  1. Make sure no one else is using PF HelpDesk.

  2. (For versions before 11.3: Close the homepage of the PF HelpDesk Outlook folder by right clicking the folder and selecting Properties >Homepage > disable the homepage. Uncheck the option 'Show home page by default for this folder' to disable the PF HelpDesk homepage.)

  3. Leave the Outlook folder and the enter it again.

  4. Copy the whole Outlook folder to a .pst-file.

  5. If the file path should be changed too,  copy the files in the network folder to the new place.

  6. Through an Outlook profile that is connected to the new server, copy in the Outlook folder from the .pst file to its place in the folder structure of the new Exchange server.

  7. (For versions before 11.3: Activate the homepage of the Outlook folder again. Adjust the path if needed.)

  8.  Register the product. When a PF HelpDesk folder is moved the registration ceases to be valid. (If this is a trial, the trial period will be over.)
