HelpDesk for Outlook
Download PF HelpDesk directly from this
website.
Procedure:
1. Save the .exe file, PFHelpDeskSetup.exe.
2. Click the .exe file to perform the installation.
Note: for Vista, User Account Control (UAC) must be
turned OFF during installation (Control panel, User
accounts)
Permissions
Installation in a public folder must be done by a person
with write permission over a shared network folder and owner/publishing
author/editor over the public folder. Installation to a
local PST can be done by any user without needing any special
privilege.See below for further instructions for:
first time downloaders.

The current registration codes for
PF HelpDesk begins with "PFHD".
If you have a version prior to 9.5.2 and want to upgrade
to the current version, you need a new registration code.
Please
contact us, and we will send you the new code promptly!
The upgrade process is automatic, but note that you have
to upgrade the Client Tools too.

time you download Public Folder HelpDesk for Outlook! |
Public Folder HelpDesk for Outlook is a client-server
application. The client tools (PFHelpDeskClientTools.exe)
are installed on the clients and run as an Outlook add-in.
The remaining functionality is supplied by executables that
don't have to be installed, but rather are run directly
from the server when needed.
Our installer (PFHelpDeskSetup.exe)
does the following:
- Uncompresses
the files to a network path

Configures
a new Outlook folder. Adds views and forms to that folder
and sets the folder homepage.

Allows
the user to create or select a database where tickets
will be stored.

Installs
the client tools to the local machines by running the PFHelpDeskClientTools.exe.(The users are asked if they
want to install the client tools the first time
PF HelpDesk is run.)

For the installation, create a PF HelpDesk directory
in any shared file folder on your server and save the file
you downloaded into it. You can use either a UNC-path, such
as \\servername\sharename, or a mapped drive, such as Y:.
The set up is done from a client machine, not directly on the server, so
from a client go into the folder where you put the PFHelpDeskSetup.exe and click
the file to start the installation.

Included
in the downloaded file (PFHelpDeskSetup.exe) is the
statistics application
OLAP Reporting Tool for Excel.
Language is selected during the installation.

I strongly recommend that you also use my knowledge

KBase for Outlook together with PF HelpDesk.
KBase is a free product if you buy PF
HelpDesk, and it is very easy
to download and install. Set the path to KBase under
the Other Settings tab in the PF HelpDesk Settings,
and PF HelpDesk will feel KBase and register it
automatically.

If you have problems downloading an .exe-file you can
try this alternative, which downloads a .zip-file. When
you extract the .zip-file you will get the .exe-file from
the download above.
Procedure:
1. Save the .zip file.
2. Extract the .zip file.
3. Click the .exe file to perform the installation. |
