kalmstrom.com Outlook Solutions has released version 2 of KBase for Outlook, the knowledgebase that runs completely inside Outlook. No database is needed for this solution, in which images, attached files and rich text can be used and articles are easily saved to web pages for publishing on a website or an intranet.

KBase for Outlook leverages existing storage and search capabilities in Microsoft Outlook. The application needs no client installation and no extra window. Create the articles inside Outlook and use all the Outlook tools you normally use, like text formatting, spelling check and attachments.

The KBase articles are saved in Outlook in the same way as e-mails and appointments, and they can of course be full text searched. Could it be simpler?

KBase articles are tagged with problem category and type, subject, date and article creator, the two last automatically. Problem category and type are chosen from drop-down combo boxes. New categories and types are simply written in, and KBase remembers them next time.

With a click on a button KBase articles can be saved to web pages, complete with an expandable index where the pages are grouped after Problem category and type. The installation wizard makes it easy to install KBase for Outlook for a workgroup within a few minutes. The language of KBase is automatically set to the same as the OS language of the user’s system. Currently Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Slovenian and Swedish are supported. With other operative system languages, English is used.

KBase for Outlook works with Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2007, and Windows 2000, XP and Vista are all supported. KBase can also be used with Outlook Web Access. The support handling application Public Folder HelpDesk for Outlook, also from kalmstrom.com Outlook Solutions, is built for seamless use with KBase.
