Calendar Browser V7.1 – press release

kalmstrom.com Business Solutions has released version 7.1 of its resource booking tool for Outlook. The update makes it possible to make several installations of Calendar Browser in the same Outlook and thereby group the resource calendars. Users only have to see the groups they need to book in. From version 7.1 Calendar Browser is also compatible with Office 365, and personal calendars may be added to the application. Thus the Calendar Browser V7.1 Overview can show many peoples calendars at the same time and in different views.

Calendar Browser for Outlook was one of the first creations that developer Peter Kalmstrom made into a standard product, after he had created similar resource booking applications for a Swedish municipality and an insurance company. At that time Peter was already an Outlook expert, so he saw the advantages of letting staff book what they needed in resource calendars directly inside their Outlook.

The use of Calendar Browser has expanded to big organizations with many bookable resources, so the kalmstrom.com developers found a way to group the resources. This has made it easier for the users to find the suitable resource, and Calendar Browser is faster since less resource calendars had to be loaded.

The kalmstrom.com team always aim to support the latest Microsoft technologies, and therefore version 7.1 has been developed to be compatible with the new cloud platform Office 365. For resource booking a public folder or a direct booking mailbox is recommended, so that the resource calendars can be shared. Here many calendars may be shown simultaneously in different views, so that managers and others can get a good picture of where people are and what they are doing.
 

Calendar Browser gives one or several groups of resource calendars in the Outlook Calendar view, and users book the resource by making an appointment in the suitable calendar. In the ribbon there are buttons for resource descriptions and resource search. Another button opens the Overview, which show bookings of all the resources for the near future. Also the extra supplies that can be booked with each resource are shown in the Overview, as well as project and of course who made the booking.
