The OLAP Reporting Tool for
Excel is a very good tool for analyzing data.
See the video demonstrations, the manual and the slide show for
information about how to use it.
The application connects to a .cub file or
directly to Microsoft Analysis Services. Nothing is
installed on the client – simply run the executable,
it will look for .cub files or let you connect to MS
Analysis Services.
You download the fully functional version of OLAP Reporting Tool for Excel, and you may evaluate it for 90 days. Then it will stop functioning if you don't
purchase a license and register the application.
If you are upgrading, just replace your old OLAPReporting.exe with the new one, and then you can continue working with the tool and use all your old reports and settings. If you had a free version earlier you have to
pay for OLAP Reporting version 3, though.
If you don't intend to use Analysis Services, unzip the downloaded file
in a folder where there is also a .cub file. Without a
.cub file or Analysis Services OLAP Reporting does not do
anything! If you want
to try the application before you enter your own data, you can
download and use
the cubes below. In the manual there is a description on how to
create your own cube.
Note: for Vista, User Account Control (UAC) must be
turned OFF during installation (Control panel, User
accounts)
